POEM DAY 3

Hello and welcome!!!

.

Another week, another poem day, today’s poem will be about PERFECTION.

Poem Title and Poem

Perfection

Everyone wants to achieve perfection

But do they have the price perfection demands

There is no perfect one

Some believe in the supreme being who they say is perfect

I am sure there is no perfect being

That is why there will always be that one thing that you don’t like about yourself

Don’t think you are alone

It is the same for everyone

The only difference is the fact that some people accept their imperfection

Some challenge the imperfection

Some move along with their imperfections

Some try to leave it behind

It is a part of you and it will follow wherever you go

There is no neglecting your imperfection

There is a glaring difference compared to your perfection

Own it

Love it

Your imperfections make you perfect

Perfection is achieved when you can accept and use your imperfection

.

Inspiration

I have always had to deal with my weight and how people see me. Before to me, Being plus size was one of the things holding me back and I would do anything to hide away. I was depressed and constantly trying to do things to be perfect to other people.

I wrote it hoping that it would help anyone struggling to understand that ‘perfection is what we make it‘.

.

Duration

I wrote this poem about 4 years ago and I wrote it in frustration and anger but at the same time I was able to come to the realization that no one is perfect and I should just love myself the way I was.

.

Interpretation

Everyone is trying to be perfect but perfection isn’t definite. Honestly what can you say is perfect? No one is perfect, nothing is perfect.

It’s something everyone wants but no one can have, you have to define your own perfect.

A lot of people chase perfection based on someone else’s standard.

Set your standard and try to achieve it. Simple

I hope you set your own standard of perfection today

How I got over 500k reads on my wattpad book

Hello and welcome!!!.

January of 2018, I started writing a lot on wattpad and it also happened to be my national service year. During the course of a year I wrote 100 chapters of a fan fiction on wattpad and in the course of the year, I had about half a million reads.

.

Before I started consistently writing on wattpad, I would always wonder how some books got over a million reads but having being on wattpad a while (being both a reader and a writer) I can hopefully give you some tips.

Important note: it didn’t happen overnight. I didn’t get my first 100 reads until I was 5 chapters in and a month duration and slowly I began to grow my reader base.

Few tips to follow

.

1. Keep Writing

Disappointment, discouragement and even lack of motivation are things that make wattpad writers stop writing. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get the type of engagement you are looking for when you start writing. You have to write because you want to and you love doing it, not just because of the reads or votes you get.

.

2. Use Social Media

A lot of people underestimate the power of social media. If you have a Twitter, Instagram or any other social media accounts, follow other wattpad writers, fellow readers and other popular pages that you like.

Promote your book. No one should be promoting your book more than you. (For example, I write BTS fanfiction, so I interact with other fans and follow other writers who are interested in my type of content). DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA

.

3. Engage with your current readers

When you start having readers or even followers (who are usually about half of your reader base), you need to interact with them. You need to make them keep coming to your page or checking out your books. For example, when I get readers who add my book to their reading list, I always send them a message, ‘Thanks for adding my book to your reading list, I hope you read it soon’, this does two things

.

a. Reminds them to read it and also at the same time let’s them know that I am thinking of them

.

b. Serves as a conversation starter, for me, some ask questions, other leave story requests, some help in making corrections to my mistakes and much more

.

4. Read Other People’s Books and Leave Comments (DO NOT SPAM)

This one is as important as any other on this list. As much as you want people to read your book, you also have to read other people’s books. Now this is not really compulsory but I can list a few benefits of this

a. It gives you a sort of presence among other writers in the wattpad community

b. You get to see other works and sometimes find things that will help you improve your writing

c. Leaving interactive comments, helps you gain audience from other readers of that book.

.

5. Read for Read? Vote for Vote?

Okay, so honestly I have to say I did use this method when I was just starting out (maybe when I had about 50 to 100 reads). A lot of people advice against this but I have to say that I have gotten quite a few readers from using this method.

Vote for vote? is one that I would not really recommend because usually these people don’t actually read your stuff. They just spam you with vote while not reading your content. (Usually leading to more votes than reads).

.

6. Don’t be Stuck on the Votes

Like I said earlier, don’t be too stuck on your amount of votes, for example I have about 539k reads on one of my books and about 5.98k votes (if each person that read the book voted for each chapter, I should probably have more than 200k votes) but most people just read and don’t bother voting.Just stick to your writing and forget about that.

.

7. Consistency is key

If you can set a date for your updates (maybe every Wednesdays or fridays) this helps your audience keep up.If you are writing fanfiction, stick to it and write it well, if you write smuts (just like I do) stick to you own stuff and make sure to state the age restriction, this kind of prevents misunderstanding. Your readers expect something when they click on your updates and you have to deliver everytime.

20 KIM NAMJOON’S PHENOMENAL QUOTES

Hello and welcome!!!

If you don’t know by now, then I guess I need to do a big announcement. I AM A BTS FAN (ARMY)!!!

Since that is out of the way, I guess it would be appropriate to also mention that my bias is Namjoon (I am really dying to add a lot of heart eyed emojis)

.

KIM NAMJOON

He is the leader and also one of the main rappers in the pop group BTS. If you don’t know who they are, well sis get with the time!

Anyways namjoon is known to speak from the heart and his words always hits me every blessed time.

Sometimes it’s about love, sometimes about death and even sadness but honestly everytime he speaks, it is just so poetic.

So, today I decided to list 20 of Namjoon’s Phenomenal quotes!

  1. No one is born ugly, we’re just born in a judgmental society
  2. Happiness is not something that you have to achieve, you can still feel happy during the process of achieving something

Books I read recently #3

Hello and welcome!!!

.

Here is another ‘books I have read recently’ post.

I haven’t been reading a lot lately and little tip (it’s because I have been attending Deutsch classes) Anyways this is a cumulative post of books I read towards the end of last month up till this point

I read a lot more but as my tradition on here, I will be talking only about the one I really enjoyed and I think should be mentioned.

.

  • Her Royal Highness by RACHEAL HAWKINS

My Review
This one I finished today and let me start by saying, I freaking loved it, if I could give it a 10 out of 5 I would.

It was just so freaking amazing. It’s very rare to get books about royalty in which there is a homosexual or even bisexual main character and I am loving it.

This book kinda begins with this girl Millie who really wants to go to this very popular and high ranking school in Scotland. You know, just for her to get away from everything including her recent heartbreak.

So of course she makes it to Scotland and has to share a room with the Princess of Scotland. Flora is gay and she is still trying to let her mom know that her interest is not just a phase. Not only that, she also hate the fact that she is in this school and would stop at nothing to get expelled.
But has you would expect, she slowly falls in love with Millie and soon they are the talk of the whole country and the media can’t get enough of them
Soon things begin to go array and it’s left to millie to go get her girl back.

The main issue I had with this book was that we didn’t really get to have enough time with the main characters. First we had to go 6-7 chapters of backstory before she even goes to Scotland.

I also wish they had more alone scenes where we get to have a feel of their actual relationship.

Don’t get me wrong I loved it but I am sure I could have loved it more.

Rating

I gave this a 4.85/5 stars

.

  • Damaged like us by KRISTA and BECCA RITCHE (like us series #1)

My Review
I really liked this book but now that I am done reading it, I am hit in the face with all the faults.

So it’s about this bisexual guy who has always had this love for his bodyguard who is gay and a doctor

I don’t know how to go so deep into this book without giving it away

Just think of their family as the Kardashians with extra problems.

I enjoyed this book but I don’t think I will be continuing the series

Rating

I gave this book a 3/5 stars

.

  • Pretty Reckless by L.J. SHEN

My Review

I have loved all of shen’s books and this was no exception.

This is actually a sequel to the sinners of saint series and here we follow Daria who is the daughter of one of the hot holes.

We are also introduced to Penn who is the captain of the rival football team and Daria’s soon to be foster brother.

A terrible past ties them together and they are both ready to get their revenge only things doesn’t go has they plan and they fall in love.

Best way to read this book is to go into it knowing nothing.

Rating

I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars

.

  • Meet Cute by HELENA HUNTING

My Review

Let me start with the pure fact that you could never go wrong reading Helena Hunting.

Well this book actually starts with a meet cute between a fangirl and her childhood celebrity crush who was on a TV show “it’s my life” which she watched when she was a teenager.
They happen to meet on the first day of law school and they end up becoming rivals.

5 years after law school, they meet again in her office when he comes with his parents to set a trust fund for his sister. Not long after this a tragic loss brings them together.

This is one you need to read!!!!

Rating

I gave this book a 5/5 stars

.

  • The Prince and the Dressmaker by JEN WANG

My review
This book takes place in Paris, at the dawn of the modern age. Here we have Sebastian who is a prince who should be looking for a bride based on his parents request, but Sebastian is hiding a huge secret from everyone.

In comes frances who is a dressmaker who dresses him in daring but fashionable pieces that he wears while storming Paris at night as the infamous Lady Crystallia.

There are two things about this book that makes it exceptional. First we have the cross dressing prince and the way his father finally accepts him and also the fact that he was in love with Frances. When we see things like this, people always assume that they are gay.

I just loved this book.

  • Red Scrolls of Magic by CASSANDRA CLARE and WESLEY CHU

My Review

Do I love this book or do I love this book?

So a few chapters in, I noticed that the writing style seemed a bit different from the usual Cassandra style. It just had a different atmospheric feel but I still loved it.
It picks up during the City of Fallen Angels (the wild vacation that Malec took after the mortal war) and we follow Magnus and Alex has they try to enjoy their vacation in Paris. Alec over thinks everything and he is always planning but Magnus as we can expect is glittery and just wants Alec to have a great time.
Things are a bit steamy but their steamy scene is cut short when tessa comes baring bad news.

Cassandra usually keeps us hanging and waiting, anticipating but we already know what the red scrolls are about before the middle of the book

We still have our fun and glittery Magnus and Alec is still broody but in love (we know how that changes a person)

Magnus: I am very attached to my life
Really who isn’t?

We also get a peek into the beginning of Helen and Aline relationship. I really love them, they don’t get enough love

Okay so the ending definitely gave a major spoiler especially to people who haven’t read the other books.

Advice is do not the read this book until you have read the first three books in the mortal instruments

I gave this book a 5/5 stars

.

  • The feel good factor by LAUREN BLAKELY

My Review

This is not the type of book you should know about before reading, so I will put it this way

Damn smoky book
Hot police woman
Hot paramedic
Could this book be any hotter

“I love a career woman, I find it sexy”

Rating

I gave this book a 4/5 stars

.

  • It seemed like a good idea at the time by KYLIE SCOTT

My Review

One word to describe it is Steamy

This is the taste of romance book for the month of April. It a book club on goodreads where a different author gives a free book every month which would be read and discussed at the end of the month

I usually have issues with books that have relationships with such a tremendous age gap but this one was done well enough.

I wasn’t exactly blown away and it want really a new idea but I did enjoy it

Rating

I gave this book a 3/5 stars

.

  • Petal Plucker by IRIS MORLAND

My Review

Confession: I, Dandelion “Dani” Wright, am twenty-six years old and have yet to be deflowered. No man has hosed my hyacinth. Fondled my freesia. Diddled my daffodil.

She is a virgin and he is the man she hates

Just read it, trust me.

Rating

I gave this book a 4/5 stars

.

  • Intercepted by Alexa martin

My Review

I enjoyed this books so much but I could have enjoyed it more.
I have never read anything by Alexa Martin but this is a good start.

It’s about this girl who has been dating a douchey football player for the better part of a decade.
He cheats on her.
Gives her ring to another.

They break it off
And this is kind of the trigger of the beginning of the book.

A new quarter back has been bought by the team and he just happens to be the sexy man she had a one night stand with four years ago during one of her off and on relationship with asshole Chris.

Will he remember her? Or will she have to hide away forever?

Rating

I gave this a 3/5 stars

POEM DAY 2

Hello and welcome!!!!

Another week, another poem day, I am slowly loving this blog idea and it is one I plan on keeping up.

All the poems I post on poems day are written by me, unless I state otherwise.

Trigger warning// suicide and depression.

Poem title and poem

Suicide Pt.1

On the twelfth night

It rained, the water pooled in the ditches

It’s dirty, but the area around it is clean

Comparison is right between a mad man in clean clothes

The night is fresh and clean

I had some weird thoughts that night

The red rope tied

Pressing my face flat against the window panel

It is cool because of the rain; the rain drops roll down the panel

My eyes follow it

I am thinking of falling asleep

I am weak, depressed and in pain

I wish it was physical pain then I can get treated

I don’t even know where it hurts

Except the fact that it hurts

I want my pain to end

I need it to end

I am considering letting go hence the rope

I turn to look on my table seeing a picture of my smiling parents

They are the best in the world

I just want my pain to end

When will it end

Should I end it myself?

I shake my head looking at the paper and pen

The paper filled with my neat handwriting

I need my last words to be clear

I walk to the rope and stand on the chair beneath it

I put my head through the knot and I slowly kicked the chair

Hoping for a reason to continue in my pain

The door slammed open

A reason came….

THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON TO LIVE

.

Inspiration

I was having such a hard time and I was battling with depression and anyone who is battling depression would understand my predicament and all the thoughts running through my head.

.

Duration

This is something I wrote about 3 years ago. It took me about a few days to write and about a month finish.

.

Interpretation

They say suicidal thoughts are like dark monsters that try to swallow you up. It’s like that cartoon devil sitting on your shoulder, whispering and suggesting evil and vile thoughts to you. Nothing is ever good enough.

But you need to know that you are special and losing you makes the world lose importance. You are important, remember that!

22 Things I have learnt in 22 Years

Hello and welcome!!!

So recently I celebrated my 22nd birthday and I have just been thinking a lot about the things I have learnt so far and I got the idea to do this post.

All our experiences are different and no one’s story to me is better or worse than the other. The shit is just different.

Let’s get into it:

1. Some people are put in your life for you to remove them from it

2. Not everyone who claims to be your friend truly is

3. Do what you like, fuck others, people will always have an opinion

4. It’s okay to be sick, just treat it

5. Not everyone in ironed clothes have stable mental health

6. Living with a mental disorder is hard

7. Humans change back and forth while never moving from one position

8. It’s okay to have little

9. It’s okay to not be happy all the time, who the hell is?

10. The places you go define the people you meet

11. There is nothing special about that special person except what you make special of the person

12. Everyone is dispensable

13. Not everyone can like you and that’s okay, who gives a fuck

14. Fulfillment is not always just in happiness

15. Life isn’t long enough for shit, don’t waste the time you have

16. Love has become a commodity be careful who you sell to and who you buy from

17. Not everyone is having SEX, don’t be pressured

18. You determine whose opinion matters

19. Not everything is yours, just because you want it, doesn’t mean you should have it.

20. Patience is a virtue

21. Get off your phone and look around (real world)

22. Love yourself (BTS), no one should love you more than you love yourself. Love is a currency, spend it on yourself. You are worth it.

Currently reading book tag

Hello and welcome!!!

.

As someone who is always reading about 3 to 4 books at a time because of my inconsistent mood. My currently reading tab is always full. This is the best tag for me to do!

.

I saw this on @bookslovereaders page and it was created by my bookish blog

.

1. How many books do you usually read at once

Since I read based on my mood, I read about 3 to 4 books at a time. They are usually different genre, maybe Adult, Yound Adult, Fantasy or Contemporary.
.

2. How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?

Like I said, when my mood changes or when I am tired of a particular book.

.

3. Do you ever switch bookmarks partially through a book?

I don’t really use a lot of bookmarks, since I annotate my books (don’t kill me) I usually know where I stopped.

.

4. Where do you keep the books you are currently reading?

By my bed, easiest place for me to reach for them.

.

5. What time of day do you read the most?

I read mostly at night and heavily during the weekend. During the day I mostly listen to audiobooks so it’s easy for me to go around doing my daily work.

.

6. How long do you typically read in one session?

I have got to say, it depends on how interesting I find the book. Some books I finish in one sitting (usually contemporary) others I slowly read. So maybe about 30 minutes to an hour.

.

7. Do you read hardbacks with the dust jackets off?

Yes, I do. If you ask me, that’s the only way to read hardbacks.

.

8. What position do you mainly use to read?

Since I mostly read at night, I am usually lying in bed.

.

9. Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?

Yes, I do. I have some pretty booksleeves I got from @bookgloves and I have been using it so often

.

10. How often do you update your goodreads reading progress?

Every time I finish a book. Or whenever I am reading a very long fantasy. Take The priory of the orange tree as an example, I updated every fifty pages.
