Books I have read recently #2 (series edition)

Hello and welcome!

Today I will be talking about the book series I recently read i.e some I started and some I completed

  • The Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When I started watching booktube a few years ago, this was one of the more popular book series they would talk about. So I finally picked it up. I have read books 1-4 (obsidian, onyx, opal and origin) but I have a lot of issues reading the last book (opposition) I am really struggling through it but I am sure I will finish it when I am in the mood for it.

My review

One way I would explain this is, it’s just like very other teen supernatural book just with aliens. Yes I did say Aliens!

In the first book we follow this girl who just moved to a new town (why do all these books always start with someone moving to a new place) with her mom while they are still mourning the loss of her father.

Only thing is, in this new town there is a lot of weird and odd disappearances happening and she soon finds herself in the center of it. Her neighbour is a hot but annoying green eyed bottle of temptation and soon she finds herself falling in love with him.

The first 3 books in the series was a quick read for me but when I got to the 4th book, it kind of dragged and it took me a while to finish.

For me, there was nothing really new but I was fascinated with the angle of the alien thingy.

  • Sinners of Saints by L. J. Shen

I really flew through this series. It is a group of companion novels. There are 5 books in the series, Defy, Vicious, Ruckus, Scandalous and Bane. Each of these books follow a different person.

My Review

I enjoyed Scandalous and Bane most in this series as they had the highest rating but I will be reviewing the whole series together. So we have this rich guys who fall in love, only they make their romantic interest suffer a lot because of their asshole ways.

Honestly talking about this book is too much spoilers and it’s one you just need to pick up without knowing anything.

If you are looking for a steamy, hot, sexy book that actually has a storyline then this is the one for you. The reason I am putting the whole series together is because the minute you finish one book you would be looking to read the next.

  • Blood Type by K. A. Linde

Vampire lovers this is for you. This is a different twist to vampire stories. The vampire system is different and there is something about this series that is so real. There are 3 books in this series, Blood Type, Blood Match and Blood Cure.

My Review

This book is set in a civilization that has laid waste due to poverty and oppression. We have Reyna who lives with her two struggling brothers who barely eat hand to mouth, she then decides to take a job as a live in blood escort for one of the top vampire in town.

This is how she meets Beckham a hot brooding vampire who is more soft on the inside compared to the wicked facade he displays.

Things begin to slowly go astray and she finds herself caught in the middle of a power struggle in this world ruled by vampires.

The dynamics of the vampire rule and the blood escort situation was so intriguing to me.

  • The Hartigans by Avery Flynn

This series has 3 books, Butterface, MuffinTop and Tomboy. All of which follow individual characters from the Hartigan Family.

My review

About two months ago I read MuffinTop without knowing it was part of a series and I really enjoyed it. There we followed a plussize main character.

Then I read Butterface (But her Face), here we have a main character who has lived her whole life traumatized by events from her childhood regarding her face which people would say “her body is pretty but her face isn’t” which made her kind of guarded .

Then in Tomboy, we follow a nurse who per chance had to take care of a sick hockey player.

One thing that I enjoyed about these book were the representations even though some things did seem unreasonable, I still enjoyed it. It kind of pointed to the fact that everyone is going to have an opinion you just have to decide to not give a shit.

I gave the series a 4.5/5 stars
