Books I have read recently #1

Hello!
Welcome!I decided to start this type of review, since I always read about 30 to 40 books a month, which makes monthly reviews a pain to do.So every few days or weeks I will be doing a “books I have read recently” review.

  • Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

I have been reading quite a lot of books by this writing duo and I just can’t stop, when I think they can’t get any better, I am hit with something more amazing than the last.My review
Let’s start with the fact that we have a main character who is Korean American and whose name is Jimin (the BTS fangirl in me is over the roof!!!!!!!)
Anyways this book is about two friends who are at a point in their lives, in which they are in no relationship whatsoever, josh/jimin being recently heartbroken and Hazel who has been in love with him for the longest time. She has a very eccentric behavior and this seems to put off a lot of men (but as you can guess, this is what draws Jimin to her). So the two of them decided to get a date for the other so that they can double date and as you can probably expect this was disastrous.
You should read this if you are looking for the perfect balance of smutty, sweet contemporary romance that would get you out of a reading slump.RatingI gave this a 5/5 stars

  • Field Notes On Love by Jennifer E. Smith

So I have never read any book by this author but I am so in love with this book that I can’t wait to read any of her other works. My review
This book is about a young British guy Hugo whose girlfriend breaks up with him a few weeks before they were to go on a long train ride across America. But now he has to figure out a way to still travel since his ex-girlfriend’s name is on all their tickets, so he decides to put up an ad, looking for someone with the same name as his ex-girlfriend.
As you can expect, across the pond his Mae who is living with her two dads and she is an aspiring filmmaker who has just been rejected from her dream program in the university she wants to attend. She is craving adventure and when she finds out about the ad, she believes one has been placed on her laps.
That’s how the journey of love and adventure begins between the two of them.
I just want the whole world to read this book!RatingI gave this a 5/5 stars

  • Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi

I started the shatter me series last year and it is slowly becoming one of my favorite series of all time. I follow this series so closely and as much as I want to continue reading about this world, I just want it to end, I am so tired and heartbroken. My review
Let me start by saying I flew through this book so fast.
This book picks up immediately after the ending of restore me (which happens to be the fourth book in the series) and I was just struck in the face with the repercussions of the event. Juliette and warner have been taken and a lot of secrets revealed, memories restored, families reunited and relationship tightened. The dead came back and the living died (I am trying not to give spoilers, because anything is a spoiler at this point, especially if you have not read the first 4 books)
One thing I would say is that I am all for the steamy scenes that Mafi decided that we were worthy of! I can keep raving about this series on and on.Rating
I gave this a 4/5 stars

  • Indecent Exposure by Tessa Bailey

This was actually recommended to me by a friend and I can see the hype around it. Honestly I wasn’t too mind blown but I did enjoy it.My review
I thought the story was so cute even though it had a lot of heavy underlining topics like alcoholism, drunk driving, prostitution, addiction and grief.
This book is about an Ireland Olympic gold medalist Katie who decides to go to New York for two weeks. This is where she meets Jack who is a recruit at the police academy. Their meeting was accidental, electric and they end up kissing on their first day. When he goes to the academy half-drunk the next day that’s where he finds out that she is the new firearms instructor!!! (cue dramatic music)
Okay so I had a few issues reading this book, it felt a bit drawn out and I felt it didn’t need to be that long. It dragged a bit but I really still enjoyed it.Rating
I gave this a 3/5 stars

  • Fence by C.S Pacat, Johanna the Mad (illustrator), Joana LaFuente (illustrator)

This is graphic novel that I am currently obsessed with and as you can see above it is by C.S Pacat. If you don’t know who she is, she is the author of the captive prince series which I read last year and loved so much.My review
I have currently read issues 1-8 and I am loving it. So it’s about this two guys who are fencers, one is Nicholas who is an outsider to the fencing world and all the practice he has gotten is in a rundown gym, he has talent but he lacks proper training and the other is brooding Seiji, who is a fencing prodigy.
Nicholas lost to Seiji in a local tournament and now he is hell bent on being better than Seiji, all I have to say is that he has a long way to go.
I really can’t wait to continue this. I do have to point out that the illustration is just so amazing and spot on. The colors the characters, everything is just so good.Rating
I gave this issues a 5/5 starsThanks for reading.Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog.
