With a lot of books being released and a lot more nearing publication date, my TBR pile is almost as high as Everest and I can’t wait to begin demolishing it.
But today I will be listing 5 books that I have read and you need to read now or anticipate their publication!
With no further ado, let’s get into the list
1. KING OF SCARS BY LEIGH BARDUGO
This was on the list for one of my most anticipated books of 2019, if you haven’t read it yet, click here.
I just read this book and it picks up a bit after the SIX OF CROWS duology (which happens to be one of my all-time favorite series) I really won’t be going too much into this book, except it is about King Nikolai who has evil residing within him and the journey he takes to get rid of it. We get to see a lot of characters from the other books in the grisha verse.
I wish I read the SHADOW AND BONE trilogy before picking this one up and I would really advice that you read that one first before getting into this one.
2. ON THE COME UP BY ANGIE THOMAS
I can definitely see this on a big screen. I have to say that Angie Thomas as the hit factor and after the release of THE HATE U GIVE, I couldn’t see how better it could get but she did top that and it is so amazing. It is about this girl called Bri who wants to rap and break into the rap scene but surely things aren’t easy as she has to live in a society where rappers are viewed to be negative and hoodlummy and it is surely worse for female rappers as she is looked down on.
This book is just a whirlwind of emotions and one you definitely need to read.
3. THE UNHONEYMOONERS BY CHRISTIAN LAUREN
This is simply a hate to love romance about a girl called olive whose identical twin is unable to go for her honeymoon because of a flu.
This leads to olive taking the journey instead of her sister but what she doesn’t anticipate is that her brother in law which she hates would also be coming on the journey with her.
So she ends up spending the all-expense paid honeymoon with Ethan and they simply fall in love but there is nothing really simple about they love and their relationship.
This book is one you should watch out for, it expected publication date is May 14.
4. THE RISK BY ELLE KENNEDY
This is the second book in the Briar University series. After the reading the off campus series I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on this series and I have to say I don’t regret that choice, Elle is such a good writer, she keeps me coming for more.
This book is about the daughter of Briar hockey coach who falls in love with the charming and arrogant Harvard hockey captain, basically he is the enemy and she is sleeping with him. If you are looking for a book to make you cry, laugh and swoon this is the perfect fit.
5. THE BRIDE TEST BY HELEN HOANG
This is honestly my least favorite on this list but I can’t help but add it to this list.
I loved the cultural representation and the general plot, I just felt the relationship lacked some flavor. It is about a guy who has no deep feelings and is autistic and his mother as to go to Vietnam to get him a wife.
When she comes to America, she is not what he expected and he finds himself falling for her even when he didn’t understand what he was feeling.
The expected publication date is May 7
